The artist will have to decide whom to serve

Jeanneworks – Nov 2012

When I was invited to speak at the conference "Social Housing – Housing the Social" I was quite delighted because the topic is very close to my heart. However when I read that I was part of the session "Autonomous or Instrumentalized" I became slightly irritated. Why do we have to talk again about this binary position when in my opinion autonomy and instrumentalization are no longer oppositional strategies. Also it stays with in the sladed discussion on gentrication and doesn’t take into acoount the latest happenings around the various ways in which people reclaim the right to their city both politically and socially.
